Social History — 17th century
Vase
Vase, or similar vessel probably in very dark blue glass, appearing black due to high density. Incomplete circular base with raised edges, bulbous almost spherical body with wide mouth with plain rim. Similar in profile to a lamp and exfoliating surface. Old note records 'Black glass very ancient with silvery lines from......of London Throgmorton St with cat bones druidical beads &.........relic of great fire 1666 and Octagon - 17th Cent if not earlier - July 1885'.
