Amethyst rosette brooch or mount
An openwork octofoil of gold and enamel with nine foiled amethysts in octagonal bezels: eight surrounding a larger central stone. It is enamelled on the reverse in black and white. The function of the jewel remains uncertain since there are no loops or clasps for attachment. Part of the Cheapside Hoard.
