Rose link from enamelled chain
A rose link from a gold and champlevé enamel chain (now broken into four sections - see A14073a-d)) with a combined total of 425 links. The link represents a species roses of the semi-double-bloom variety: half with white petals around a central spray of translucent white and amber enamel and the rest with translucent amber petals and white enamel cinqfoil centres. The ‘stamens’ are fashioned from gold pellets and the backs are identically detailed with leaf or calyx-shaped cloissons of light-green enamel on a white ground. The leaf or calyx points project beyond the edges of the petals in a naturalistic manner. The link has annular lugs for attachment.. Part of the Cheapside Hoard.
