Jug, jug handle

Heavy cast handle, oval in section, broken at the lower end where the upper part of a figure appears in relief, head facing left, very worn and corroded; relief mouldings appear further up the handle. At the top there is an acanthus moulding with openwork scroll remaining on the left , the other side broken. A tube running about the edge under the raised acanthus leaf appears to have been used for the hinge instead of the more usual pierced lugs. The figure may be that of Victory or Ganymede, who is represented elsewhere in the London collection.
