This trade token, worth a farthing, was issued at the Star tavern in East Smithfield, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 923; Obv inscription: AT.THE.STAR.TAVERN (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A six-pointed star (in field); Rev inscription: IN.EAST.SMITHFEILD (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = C.A.H. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
East Smithfield, lies in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, having formerly been part of, Stepney, Middlesex.
