The Flying Horse
This trade token, worth a farthing, was issued for a business at the sign of the Flying Horse, in St Nicholas Shambles (now part of Newgate Street).
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 2701; Obv inscription: AT.THE.FLYING.HORSE.IN (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A flying horse (in field); Rev inscription: S.NICKLES.SHAMBLES (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = P.M.B. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
