The Pair of Scales

Robert Sisson, a mealman (someone who deals in meal crops, such as oats), issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business at the sign of the Scales, in St John Street.

Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 2589A; Obv inscription: ROBERT.SISSONN.AT.THE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A pair of scales (in field); Rev inscription: IN.ST.IOHN.STREET.MEALMAN (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALF / PENY / R.F.S. (in four lines of Roman capitals with triad of initials as bottom, in field).
