The Sugar Loaf
This trade token, worth a farthing, was issued at the sign of the Sugar Loaf, in East Smithfield, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 920; Obv inscription: AT.THE.SVGER.LOFE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A sugar-loaf between two cloves (in field); Rev inscription: IN.EAST.SMITH.FEILD (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = H.S.G. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
