Sample, greenheart wood sample block
Sample block of greenheart wood (or Lignum Vitae) imported through the London docks from British Guyana. Being one of the hardest known woods it was traditionally used to make mallets, bats and truncheons. Though sometimes, as in this case it was also used for high quality fishing rods.
