Glass, ring, finger ring
A glass finger-ring. Hoop of glass with a flattened bezel set with a dark purple (looking black) setting, surrounded by a circular collar of yellow glass. The inset may once have had a impression of a profile, but this is now very worn. This, and the yellow spiral thread that is wound around the hoop, is coloured by the addition of lead-antimony. The setting is placed over the join to disguise it.
Recovered from a Roman burial, West Tenter Street, London E1.
Henig type 6.
