Porringer, tableware
Porringer with an annular-shaped ear (one missing), everted rim, deep rounded bowl and foot ring. Part of the base is also missing. There is a extremely worn, unidentified touch under the base.
Possibly of Continental origin. Similar vessels have been found from excavations in Fort pond, Martin’s Hundred, Virginia (Hume, 2001, Part I, 182-3 and part II, p 360 inv. no. 7559) and, Port Royal Jamaica (see R F Marx Pirate Port: The Story of the Sunken City of Port Royal, 1967, p 134. Port Royal was destroyed by earthquake in 1692.
