Medallion paving tile; Camel floor tile
Polychrome tin-glazed earthenware 'medallion' floor tile decorated in blue, ochre, green, manganese and yellow on a buff-coloured glaze with a camel, profile to left, surrounded by blue and ochre circles. Medallion tiles with figurative and animal subjects were popular in the Low Countries and London. These tiles were made in the Pickleherring factory in Southwark.
