Tin-glazed earthenware posset pot with dull white glaze. Similar examples have been recovered from excavations at Pickleherring, Southwark. Posset is a preparation in which eggs, milk or cream are curdled with ale or wine to which herbs and spices are added. It was used as a domestic remedy for many ailments, and once the whey had been drunk from the spout, the separated curds could be eaten.
