Charles II caudle cup
Tin-glazed earthenware commemorative caudle cup made in Southwark and decorated in blue, manganese, yellow and ochre on a white glaze with a half-length portrait of Charles II inscribed 'CR2/1661'. The vessel was presumably produced as a coronation souvenir. This type of mug was probably used for caudle, a hot spicy drink of ale or wine, egg yolks and cream.
