Taster, bowl, coffee cup
Many London coffee houses advertised their presence with a sign outside like the 'Turk's head' painted in this coffee cup. Coffee drinking was a well-established custom all over the Turkish Ottoman Empire by the early 17th century. This association with Turkey was preserved when Londoners began to drink coffee in the 1650s and it was known as the 'turkish berry'.
