Paintings, Prints & Drawings — 1890
Evening in the Pool, River Thames
This view of the Pool of London from the Southwark shore looks westwards towards London Bridge. The buildings most clearly depicted are, from left to right: Cannon Street Station, the dome of St. Paul's cathedral, the church of St. Magnus the Martyr, the Monument, Custom House, the steeple of St. Dunstan-in-the-East and the spire of St. Margaret Pattens. The variety of craft shown, from rowing boats to tugs and sailing barges, gives an idea of late 19th century river traffic.
