Camden
Historic, artistic, diverse – and best known for its market – the inner London borough of Camden stretches from busy Seven Dials in Covent Garden, up to beautiful Hampstead Heath.
South of the heath are the leafy suburbs of Belsize Park and Primrose Hill, which give way to the livelier vibe of Camden Town. This area is dominated by Camden Market, popular with young locals and tourists for over 50 years. Camden also has a long association with music, particularly rock and punk, and is home to venues like the Roundhouse and Electric Ballroom.
Further south, across Euston Road, is Bloomsbury, home of the British Museum and University of London, and where author Virginia Woolf co-formed the influential Bloomsbury Group.
The area is also where the world-famous Great Ormond Street Hospital was founded in 1851 – England’s first hospital solely for children.
