Reimagining Research conference
How can city museums redefine the future of research?
Join London Museum, ICOM CITIES and the University of Westminster for Reimagining Research in and with City Museums, an international conference exploring the future of research in urban museums.
By positioning city museums as sites of urban knowledge production, this conference aims to challenge conventional understandings and explore how research connects to social, spatial and political life. The programme features keynote speakers, paper presentations, panel discussions and collaborative sessions designed to spark new thinking and connections.
Conference registration includes breakfast, lunch and refreshments on both days, a welcome drinks reception at the University of Westminster on 27 January.
Speakers will explore how city museums can:
- develop innovative and context-sensitive research methodologies
- engage with complex urban realities and multiple knowledge systems
- collaborate with researchers, communities, and policymakers to reflect rapidly changing urban environments
- actively contribute to civic and intellectual life
Key themes include:
- the role of city museums in research ecologies
- expanding the definition of research in city museums
- research in city museums as drivers of social change
Full programme and speakers to be announced soon. Attendees can expect a stimulating line-up of speakers, representing museums and research from across the globe.
