Hinge, lorica segmentata hinge
Copper-alloy lobate hinge from plate armour, lorica segmentata, with square shoulders and no sign of decoration, made from a sheet of single thickness. The 'nose' is also squared and the central rivet hole has been placed between the arms, rather than on the nose, as was more usual. The object is battered, has been cut and is possibly a replacement hinge. Square shoulders are quite unusual on these fittings, but there is an example from Chester.
