Knife, cleaver
Blade of Manning type 2a, with straight back and convex cutting edge; handle socket almost closed, with one nail hole remaining (of a probable two). The handle socket is made separately from the blade and is attached to the end of the blade by means of two plates at right angles to the socket. This appears to be a very weak method of attachment and may be an ancient repair.
