Bowl
Part of a decorated samian bowl, form Dragendorff 37, made at Les Martres-de-Veyre, Central Gaul by the potter Drusus I also known as X-3. Decorated with panel designs comprising animal figures and cruciform design, with straight wreaths between, with basal wreath. The sherd has been heavily burnt, turning the red clay black, perhaps in the Hadrianic fire of AD 120-125. Samian ware is high-quality Roman tableware made in Gaul (modern-day France) and exported throughout the empire. See Detsicas, 1963, 65.
