Part of a decorated samian ware bowl, form Dragendroff 29, stamp: PASSIEN inside base, the mark of the potter Pass(i)enus of La Graufesenque, South Gaul. Decorative motifs include an inhabited scroll, with triffid decoration and animal figure (dog) in lower lobe, with a wavy border above. Samian ware is high-quality Roman tableware made in Gaul (modern-day France) and exported throughout the empire.
