Shoe, wedding shoe
One of a pair of woman's wedding shoes. Upper and heel cover of ivory silk satin; matching bow at throat; top edge bound in cream cotton braid over drawstring. Leather sole. Oval pointed toe. Pinet style heel, 3.8 cm (H); brass nailed knock on top-piece. Shaped sole; slightly worn; both stamped '64' in the centre. Low cut vamp; long quarters; slightly angled side seam with two rows of stitching. White linen vamp lining; white kid quarter lining. White kid sock silver stamped: 'Made in Vienna for/JONES & HIGGINS/Peckham, S.E.', on both shoes.Worn by the donor's mother; worn with skirt 47.68/15.
