Bodice
Off-white silk satin woven in a cannelé pattern; stiffly boned, fitted bodice. Tall, stiffened stand collar topped with a self ruffle plus a narrow net ruffle and trimmed with a strip of beading. Gigot sleeves surmounted by floppy net ruffles gathered into armholes, narrower ruffles of the same at wrist. Sleeves interlined with stiffened muslin. Centre front opening fastened with hooks and eyes alternating in groups of four, trimmed with self ruffle and beading. Yoke trimmed with rows of self ruching divided by strips of beading. Back set into collar in four box pleats which narrow as they descend becoming six small stitched down tucks at the small of the back continuing to bodice hem. The two side back seams are beaded. Hem trimmed with self ruffle and beading. Lined with cream coloured twilled cotton;13 bones, one at each seam and on either side of opening. Jersey dress shield tacked at each armhole. Satin-faced waist tape tacked to two centre back bones fastening with three pronged buckle. Dress shields stamped 'Mozambique/patented/made in USA'.
