Fashion — 1768-1772 (fabric); 1840-1850 (dress)
Bodice, dress bodice
The style of the bodice suggests the 1840s but it has been remade from a mid 18th century silk - samples in the V&A Museum (Bachelor, Ham and Perigal). Tabby ground with 2 wefts- white and deep pink which alternate as required by the pattern. The bodice has been altered and only fragments remain otherwise, but all in good condition. Catalogue note by Natalie Rothstein.
