Post-Medieval — 16th century
Hoop ring
A simple finger ring made from rectangular-sectioned gold wire of reasonably fine gauge. No marks. The hoop is slightly damaged and distorted. This ring is very difficult to date as there are no distinguishing features. The small diameter hoop suggests it was made for a woman and was perhaps worn as a betrothal or wedding band. It is also possible that the ring was threaded on to cord and worn as a token of remembrance.
