Post-Medieval — Late 17th early 18th century; 1692-1706
Pint capacity tankard
In the Act Book of the Consistory Court of St Katherine by the Tower, Joseph Patrick is mentioned as a creditor in two court cases in 1709 and 1713 (MS 9741 folio 18 verso and folio 20 recto). The Great Garden is shown on several plans, and the best of these is a large vellum roll (Guildhall MS 9774) entitled 'A Plan of the Hospital and Precinct of St Katherine by the Tower, Prepared by Gregory King and E Bostock Fuller, 1687’. Each building is separately drawn and numbered but unfortunately the key compiled at the same time with the names of the houses and their tenants has been lost. The few surviving deeds to properties in Great Garden do not include the 'gray hound bitch' and there is no reference to a tavern of this name in J Paul de Castro (G.MS. 3110). No token is listed for this property in the standard catalogues, and there is no reference to the hostelry in Lillywhite.Joseph Patrick was mentioned as a creditor in two court cases in 1709 and 1713 in the Act Book of the Consistory Court of St Katherine by the Tower (MS 9741 folio 18 verso and folio 20 recto).
