Paintings, Prints & Drawings — 1857
Drawing, pencil and wash drawing
Design for Foreign and War Office. In 1856 the Government announced three competitions: one for War Office, one for Foreign Office and one for a plan of the area (the two buildings had to be linked). 218 designs were exhibited in 1857. This work is possibly one of them (the building pediment carries the date 1857). See 'Getting London in Perspective' Publ: Barbican Art Gallery, 1984 p.53 pl.54.
