Bowl
Part of a decorated samian ware bowl, form Dragendorff 37, with ovolo band, made at Lezoux, Central Gaul, by either the potter Libertus or Butrio, probably made by Libertus. Decoration includes figure of Ulysses in a galley, surrounded by sea horses, fish and sea centaurs. Samian ware is high-quality Roman tableware made in Gaul (modern-day France) and exported throughout the empire. See Stanfield & Simpson, pl 53, 626.
