Glass, vessel, beaker
A colourless (faint greenish-yellow tinge) beaker. Good quality glass. Iridescence and weathering has created a silvery appearance. Probably from a bowl or beaker. Technical features: engraving, wheel-cutting. The decoration is a combination of freehand engraving for outlines and wheel-cutting for infill, which consists of deeper, short, 'texturing' facets. The design comprises a figure, facing front and looking slightly right; the arms and lower legs are lost, but it appears that the sherd was deliberately broken in such a way as to preserve the figure in as complete a form as possible, perhaps to serve as a charm or memento. The figure, probably male, wears a tunic and has short hair with a fringe.
