Post-Medieval — Mid-17th century
Jug, Bartmann jug, witch bottle
Frechen stoneware bottle with a mottled brown glaze and a medallion with a female figure in a long dress. A mass of rusted iron nails remain in the interior of the vessel. The contents indicate that the bottle was re-used as a witch bottle (charm against witchcraft).
