Glove
Single left-hand one-piece gauntlet glove of soft cream kid or lamb skin dressed flesh-side out. Cut almost straight with a short (55 mm) slit opening in the lower part of the outer (little finger) side. The gauntlets are decorated with eight motifs of thick vertical lines worked with silver-gilt thread in plaited braid stitch which are elaborated alternately with four pairs of semi-circles, two solidly embroidered and two cut through the leather to reveal the silk lining. The embroidery is in buttonhole, satin and ermine stitches and is worked with a silk thread now beige coloured but originally pale mauve. The gauntlet is lined with deep mauve silk, which shows through the cut holes and which is turned to the front to bind the lower edge. This is futher trimmed with a narrow silver-gilt bobbin lace hung with spangles. The side openings are linked by two loops of silk ribbon (27 mm wide) now dark beige but originally probably pale mauve.
