A bulbous measure of half-pint capacity with carinated rim, flared ridged foot and two incised bands just below the waist for decoration. The handle has a ‘modified’ ball terminal struck with ‘R’ surmounted by a horse shoe. There is a George IV Imperial verification mark on rim to the left of the handle. No other marks. Date: c. 1830-40.
This measure illustrates the colour difference that can occur if two different pewter alloys are used for casting the upper and lower sections.
