Badge
Licensed Messenger's curved, oval shaped arm badge with leather strap. Marked 'Licensed Messenger 24'. The '4' is now missing but the imprint can be seen on the badge. This arm badge was worn by a messenger licensed to work within the City of London. In the days before telephones and mass communications messengers carried letters, documents and messages between offices and financial institutions. Dressed in distinctive uniforms they were a familiar sight in the City of London.
