Bowl
Part of a decorated samian bowl, form Dragendorff 29 made in one of the potteries in South Gaul. The lower zone is decorated with simple scroll designs. The bowl has been repaired in Roman times by drilling holes either side of the break to hold a lead rivet - an indication of how much samian vessels could be treasured. Samian ware is high-quality Roman tableware made in Gaul (modern-day France) and exported throughout the empire.
