Bowl
Part of a decorated samian bowl, form Dragendorff 30, with ovolo decoration, made in one of the potteries in South Gaul. It is in an early style, including scroll decoration with human figures in lower lobes, including gladiators armed with curved sword and shield. Samian ware is high-quality Roman tableware made in Gaul (modern-day France) and exported throughout the empire. See Stanfield, 1937, fig 10, 41.
