Beaker, cremation urn
A near complete small butt beaker in a red fabric, with a chip missing from the rim. The body is decorated with grooves and a band of rouletting.
This vessel was found at the site of a Roman cemetery and contained cremated bones. Cremated bones were deposited in everyday cooking pots or in specially purchased urns such as facepots.
