The Crown
John Gray, a wine cooper (someone who bottles and sells wine), issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business in Whitecross Street.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 3451; Obv inscription: IOHN.GRAY.WINE.COOPER (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A crown (in field); Rev inscription: IN.WHITE.CROSS.STREET (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALF / PENNY
