The Sun Tavern
This trade token, worth a farthing, was issued at the Sun Tavern, in Whitechapel, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 3394; Obv inscription: AT.THE.SVNN.TAVERNE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = The sun (in field); Rev inscription: IN.WHITCHAPPEL.1658 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = S.E.C. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
