The Lion
William Dod issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business at the the White Lion Wharf, in Thames Street (now Upper Thames Street).
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 3087; Obv inscription: WILL. DOD. AT. YE. WHITE. LYON (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A lion rampant (in field); Rev inscription: WHARFE.THAMES.STREET (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = W.E.D. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
