The Swan and Still
William Rogers, a distiller (someone who produces alcoholic spirits), issued this trade token, worth a farthing, for his business at the sign of the Swan and Still (a piece of equipment used in the production of alcoholic spirits).
Boyne & Williamson (1891) reference Southwark number 83; Obv inscription: WIL.ROGERS.SWAN.&.STIL (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A swan and still (in field); Rev inscription: SOVTHWARK.DESTILLER (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = W.A.R. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
