The Speaker Frigate
This trade token, worth a farthing, was issued for a business at the sign of the Speaker Frigate (a ship), in Upper Shadwell, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1891) reference Middlesex number 203; Obv inscription: YE.SPEAKER.FRIGAT (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = E.E.W. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field); Rev inscription: IN.VPPER.SHADWELL (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A ship (in field).
