The Three Pigeons
John Ayshley, issued this trade token, worth a farthing, for his business at the sign of the Three Pigeons, at Round Court.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 2422; Obv inscription: IOH.AYSHLEY.AT.YE.3 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = Three pigeons (in field); Rev inscription: PIGEONS.ROVND.COVRT (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = I.P.A. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).

The exact location from which this token was issued is uncertain, thre are a number of places names Round Court, that could be the correct location; the place of issue may be, Round Court, in the ward of Cripplegate Without, at the Barbican (now lost); Round Court, in the ward of Bishopsgate Without, at Bishopsgate Street (now lost); Round Court, in Aldersgate Ward, at St Martin-le-Grand (now lost), all in the City of London, or Round Court off the Strand, in the City of Westminster (then Westminster, Middlesex).
