The Royal Oak
Randolph Huff issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business at the King's Head tavern, at Ratcliffe Cross, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 2329; Obv inscription: RANDOLPH.HVFF.AT.THE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = Charles II and three crowns in an oak (in field); Rev inscription: AT.RATLEFF.CROSS.1667 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALFE / PENY / R.M.H. (in four lines of Roman capitals with triad of initials as bottom, in field).
Ratcliffe Cross is a disctrict in Tower Hamlets, having formerly been part of Middlesex.
