Edward Brent issued this trade token, worth a farthing, for his business at Pickle Herring Stairs, near Tooley Street, Southwark.
Boyne & Williamson (1891) reference Southwark number 341; Obv inscription: EDWARD.BRENT (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A hoy or sailing ship (in field); Rev inscription: AT.PICKELL.HERRING (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = E.C.B. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
