The Dolphin
Thomas Nutt issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business in St Michael's Lane (later Miles Lane).
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 2696; Obv insccription: THOMAS.NVTT.IN.MICALS (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A dolphin (in field); Rev inscription: LANE.NEER.THE.OLD.SWAN (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALF / PENY (in three lines of Roman capitals, in field).

St Michael's Lane, later Miles Lane, ran south off Arthur Street, to Thames Street (now Upper Thames Street), in Candlewick Ward and the ward of Bridge Within (later Brige Ward), the exact line of the lane is now lost underdevelopments.
