This trade token, worth a farthing, was issued at the Black Boy, on Margaret Hill, Southwark.
Boyne & Williamson (1891) reference Southwark number 304; Obv inscription: THE.BLACK.BOY.AT.MARG (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A boy smoking (in field); Rev inscription: HILL.IN.SOVTHWARKE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = H.P.H. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
