The White Bear
This trade token, worth a farthing, was issued by a farthing changer, for his business at the sign of the White Bear, in Kent Street, Southwark.
Boyne & Williamson (1891) reference Southwark number 288; Obv: AT.THE.WHITE.BARE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A bear H.E.M. (triad of initials in Roman capitals with sign below, in field); Rev inscription: IN.KENT.STREETE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A / FAR / THING / CHANG / ER (in five lines of Roman capitals, in field).
