The Sugar Loaf
Thomas Walker issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business at the sign of a Sugar Loaf, in Old Jewry.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 2154; Obv inscription: THO. WALKER. AT. YE. SVGAR. LOF [Boyne has LOAF] (around field, in Roman capitals, in field) Device = A sugar-loaf 1666 (date on either side of sign, in field); Rev inscription: IN. YE. OLD. IVRY. HIS. HALF. PENY (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = T.I.W. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
Old Jewry runs north of Poultry, in Cheap Ward and Coleman Street Ward, in the City of London.
