John Patston issued this trade token, worth a farthing, for his business at the Iron Gate, in St Katherine's, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 1545; Obv inscription: IOHN.PATSTON (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = Two monograms forming full name (in field); Rev inscription: AT.THE.IRON.GATE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = I.A.P. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
